Program Overview

The Haematology/Oncology Subspecialty Nursing Program is an evidence-based paediatric curriculum focusing on competencies essential to care for children and adolescents with cancer and haematological conditions. The program includes both in-class and practical hands-on experiences to facilitate knowledge into practice. Integral to the learning is an emphasis on child- and family-centred care, and interprofessional collaboration.

Participants will gain knowledge and skills in the nursing assessment, care delivery, and evaluation of care related to paediatric oncologic and haematologic conditions. Participants will learn and apply supportive care measures relevant to haem/onc patient populations including but not exclusive to psychosocial care, patient and family education, bereavement and palliative care.
